Atomz provides a search engine for your website that allows your visitors to search
the documents on your site. Your site must have 500 or less pages (they charge
a fee if your site is larger than that). They do not put banner ads on your pages,
but you are required to show their logo on the search results pages. In fact,
unlike many of the other free search engine hosting services, you can even display
your own banners on your search results. You can schedule their spider to index
your pages either nightly or weekly; or you can force an indexing when you've
changed the site. Interestingly, their search engine can be configured to search
within PDF files, Flash movies and the text embedded in MP3 files as well.
This free search engine, FreeFind,
is highly configurable and actually does an index of all the pages on your site.
You can request it to reindex your site anytime you update it, or you can have
it automatically update its index periodically.
WhatUSeek's SiteLevel provides an ad-supported customisable search engine that
allows your visitors to search your site for the documents they want to read.
After registering for the service, you need to supply a search.txt file where
you place your keywords and the URL these keywords point to. Visitors will then
be able to search your site (you must of course include the necessary HTML code
on your page).
