1) Open an existing image.
2) Add a new layer with a transparent background in the image .
3) Now we are going to work on
the transparent layer. So hide the layer with the image by clicking the
eye icon.
4) Select the rectangle marquee tool, and select fixed size from the options
palette. Enter a width of 30 and a height of 30. (Our grids will be 30 pixel,
if you want farther lines change value here.)
5) Click on the transparent layer of the image, it should bring a 30X30px
marquee. Fill this with any color.
6) Now select the zoom tool and zoom in on the filled selection.
7) Now press the right arrow key
and down arrow key once to move the selection one down, and one to the right.
8) Press delete to clear this area, and then move the selection back up
one and to the left. This should leave something similar to the picture
on the left.
9) Now go to edit > define pattern. Then deselect the selection.
10) Now make the layer with the image visible
and the hide the transparent layer.
11) Then Go to Edit > Fill. For the contents use pattern and for the custom
pattern select the pattern you just made. Click OK.
You can adjust the mode & opacity.
Photoshop - Creating grids
with the Patchwork filter
1) Open an existing image.
2) Add a new layer with a transparent background in the image by clicking
.
3) choose color from the image for the Foreground Color. Here I used blue.
You can select the color using eye dropper tool. Fill the layer with color.
4) Then add the Patchwork filter
by choosing Filter>Texture>Patchwork , set the Square Size to 1 and the
Relief to 0.
5) Now change the blending mode
of the layer to Soft Light. Or you can use any mode options.
